Here is some information regarding use of the blog.
My hope is that this blog may serve as a sort of bridge back to the States while the Saint Thomas Choir is in the UK. I will do my best to post about once every one or two days. Entries will generally be about tour events, my experiences over the weeks, concerts, and sightseeing trips--posts can really be about anything.
I have enabled all readers to post comments on entries. Readers may post suggestions on content, thoughts, hopes, fears, dreams, etc; by clicking the 'Comments' link at the bottom of the post. However, all comments are filtered for objectionable content, and must be approved before they appear on the blog.

Had the fortune to attend the concert in St Giles. I don't think I can find enough superlatives to describe the performance. The programmme spanned 500 years, with Sheppard, Tallis and Byrd, through to the likes of Leighton, MacMillan and Dupre.
Add in a couple of organ solos on the stunning Rieger (Transports de Joie and Gmin Fugue BWV578) to complete a sublime concert.

I can't take the suspense much longer and neither can the 10 nearest and dearest to me who are checking in daily to get the latest news!
I definitely want to go to Edinburgh now. I understand from several people that it's the coolest city. Who'd have known if you hadn't described it so beautifully.
Now come on, give us some more updates and some photos!

I had the privilege of having breakfast with the former dean of the cathedral at Winchester and his wife and they raved about the performance last evening in Durham. They, who presumably know about good choral music, were very impressed, not only with the quality of the choir but also with what they called the stamina of our boys. It was a remarkable performance and a very gratifying experience.
As one who would be with you had not an earlier commitmentin the Pacific Northwest not interfered, I am delighted to be travelling vicariously. Thank you, Nathan, for your vivid description of everything. Keep doing it! We "armchair camp followers" appreciate it. Continue to enjoy what appears to be a very successful tour -- all of you! You are making Saint Thomas proud!

Andrew's brother Lafon and I arrive in London Wed July 18 and are looking forward to the St. Paul's, Westminster Abbey and St. George's Chapel performances. As I said to your 'slightly lost' lay clerks outside the Minster last night - your York Minster concert was simply fantastic, a treat of musicianship, excitement and sheer dynamic quality. I left the concert energised and in awe of the choir's stamina. I trust the rest of your tour is enyoyable and send a big Congratulations to those boy choristers et al - the standing ovation they received in the Minster said it all!
Memorable performance at St John's chapel this evening. Well done to all concerned, good luck with the rest of your tour and come back soon to UK.

nathan, this blog was wonderful. it was fun to be along in person and then catch up, from your blog, on the stops you all made along the way to new locations on your coach. mr. p and i are so proud of all of you. your stamina is just amazing! i was brought to tears more than once by the amazing, angelic voices wafting through the various cathedrals. it simply took my breath away. even the torrential downpours didn't put a damper on the wonderful works you all performed. job well done! enjoy the rest of your summer!
